A very interesting and well written whitepaper. It makes me want to experience it myself to see how it feels. I wonder how easy the set up is to use it? Is it self-service or is the setup done by dedicated personnel? I'm just thinking of web conferencing solutions we have available and how often there is a glitch in using it unless one is fairly experienced with it.
You can visit att.com/telepresence to request a demonstration or "meeting on us." AT&T Telepresence Solution offers simplified meeting scheduling via the web-based AT&T Telepresence Solution Scheduling Portal or common enterprise calendaring applications like MS Outlook or Lotus Notes (depending on your configuration). And launching a call is as easy as pushing a button! The simplicity and ease of use have resulted in much higher utilization rates. Utilization of this solution at AT&T averages 50% of an 8-hour day vs. 5% for standard video conferencing. We have a video telepresence offering that is very easy to set up and does not generally require expert intervention, it can be used in its desktop format or in a conference room environment, it is also able to work to what we call in the trade legacy endpoints and MCU's via our integrated gateway. We care very happy to offer trial accounts to help companies understand the system and experience the advantages for themselves. see http://network-ie.net for contact details.
The truest test of whether a company trusts its own offerings is whether they are adopted and used internally.
This is a great paper that demonstrates exactly that, providing both a description of AT&T's offerings and how these offerings have been put to use internally, thereby benefiting from one of the technologies with the quickest RoI - Telepresence.
This paper was not about AT&T's usage of telepresence. Verdantix interviewed 15 early telepresence adopters and analyzed their results. AT&T was not one of the interviewed companies, although a portion were AT&T clients.
However, AT&T's internal room deployment and usage of telepresence was discussed here: http://www.business.att.com/enterprise/resource_item/Service/unified-communications-enterprise/conferencing-services-enterprise/telepresence-enterprise/Whitepaper/att-telepresence-transforming-business/
I'm so sorry! I thought you were commenting on a more recent study that was posted at att.com/telepresencerevolution. I just realized my mistake. YES! The paper you commented is all about our internal usage, and in fact the same one I was referring you to.
