- Survey Research Highlights and Considerations for Enterprise IT
- Cisco Systems
To better understand the rising security challenges associated with integrating mobile devices into business operations, Cisco recently conducted an international survey that explored the attitudes and experiences of end users worldwide. The Cisco Connected World--International Mobile Security survey covered a range of topics, including:
- Employee attitudes toward using personally owned ("personal") and company-issued devices to access corporate networks
- The types of personal and company-issued devices used for network access
- Online behavior of employees using mobile devices
- Employee perceptions of mobile device security
This white paper covers the survey's highlights; it is recommended reading for anyone who participates in a BYOD world--and it is especially important for those who make plans for corporate mobile security.
Yet another great series of concerns about BYOD. For instance, the discussion of downloading sensitive information, but then that information not being protected on a mobile device is a "gotcha" that is seldom considered. Also highlighted - having a good plan in place in the event of a lost or stolen mobile device.
A question for the MDM folks... What restrictions - if any - can be implemented to prohibit copying materials from the "company partition" of a device to a "personal partition"? "Remote wipe" of the company partition would presumably not touch the personal partition.
