An Overview of OpenFlow


This technical note details OpenFlow, a standards-based protocol that enables a SDN controller to program the behavior of an OpenFlow-enabled switch.  Included are diagrams that show the underlying architecture, protocol-level definitions, and analysis pointing out the potential use cases and benefits of OpenFlow.
